Sea Moss Gel Recipe

  1. For 16 ounces of gel, you’ll need 1 ounce of raw sea moss. Place the Sea Moss inside a large bowl and fill the bowl with cool water. Place a lid on the bowl and let it sit for approx. 12 hours or overnight. 
  2. After it has soaked, with clean hands or with rubber gloves, clean the sea moss while it’s in the bowl of water, for several minutes. Do not use soap. Dump the water, fill it with water again and thoroughly rub off all the sea moss again, and then dump the water. Take Sea Moss out, tear them into small pieces, and place in a blender. Add water to about the same line that the sea moss is at, or about an inch or two shorter. Blend for several minutes and your gel will form.                                                                 

 The gel will thicken once it's been refrigerated for 24 hours.

The gel is good for approx. 30 days from the day it is prepared, or 3 weeks after you have received it from delivery. It last for 2 months in the freezer. If you’re using it for smoothies, you can put the gel in ice trays, and use the frozen gel when needed.

This recipe is for a thick Sea Moss gel texture. To make it more liquified, use less Sea Moss and more water.

If you're making a smoothie, you do not have to make a gel. You can simply place the raw Sea Moss in the blender after it's been fully cleaned and soaked overnight.

The amount of Sea Moss needed to make the gel can vary, depending on the texture of the Sea Moss. We use very high quality Sea Moss, so it takes less Sea Moss to make our gels. If you’re using other Sea Moss from another source, then the amount needed to make the gel could vary.
